Election Day in Chicago's First Ward, Tuesday Feb 24th, 2015
What a day it was
What a day it was
I finished the election a solid 2nd place, within 73 votes from forcing a long time appointed politician Joe Moreno into a run-off election on April 7th.
Provisional votes have not been counted and not all absentee ballots have been finalized. We await hearing the news of the final outcome. Between now and mid March, the Chicago Board of Elections will be making these counts.
I thank the hundreds and hundreds of dedicated volunteers and supporters who provided this Chicago 1st Ward Aldermanic campaign with your generous support. Together, we have joined to make Chicago's 1st Ward a better place. I also congratulate the other challenging candidates Ronda Lock and Andrew Hamilton who ran excellent campaigns.
Regardless of the outcome, I remain committed to the families and businesses who live and work in the 1st Ward. I will continue to advocate and work to improve public safety and excellent public schools for our neighborhoods. Together we will work to make our part of Chicago a much better place to live and work.
Chairman and founder of Democracy for America met us at our campaign office on Sunday Feb 22 at 4:00 PM to meet our team and extend his support and congratulations to the hard work of the many volunteers of the Friends For Anne Shaw campaign.
